Breaking Barriers. Gender Equality. Supporting Women in The Workplace

Gender equality is about fundamental human rights and it forms an integral part in our business strategy to being a world class organisation. Here at Ozland Group Solutions, we are continually striving to better embrace and expand the culture, experiences, and talents of our people across all races, genders, ages, religions, and identities. Our teams reflect the incredible, diverse communities of our country and the skill that each individual brings to the solutions we provide.

It’s a known, yet unfortunate fact that in a large majority of industries, women face challenges in the workplace in every region of the world. The advancement of women’s rights continues to be a challenge both within and outside of the professional environment. Women perform 66 percent of the world’s work, produce 50 percent of the food but earn 10 percent of the income and own less than one percent of the property - scary to think that these are the factual.

Despite women making up more than half of the working population in Australia, equality for women in the workplace – especially in male-dominated industries – is far from a reality. This is something that Ozland Group Solutions endeavours to combat by way of our company values, our hiring practices, our company support systems, our leadership opportunities and overall business strategy.

Improving gender equality in the workplace requires a strategic approach on several fronts. Setting goals and targets for gender equity across all positions in an organisation is a good place to start, as this allows leaders to track progress.

What Employers Can Do to Break Barriers and Better Support Women in Industry

Create opportunities.

Providing women in organisations the tools and platform to showcase their skills open doors that have been previously closed to them, enables employers to help eliminate the barriers to entry that have held women back.
Recruitment, selection and promotion processes play an especially vital role in furthering gender equality. Ozland Group Solutions is proud to employ highly skilled women in leadership roles and all levels of business across the various sectors that we service. We believe that implementing objective benchmarks and KPIs to measure employee performance, so promotions, rewards and recognition should be based on merit rather than gender bias.

Review internal processes

Performing a regular review of internal processes to uncover and eliminate any unconscious bias is another great way for employers to grow their female talent pools and encourage more women to apply for roles. Research has shown that job advertisements with gender-neutral language are more likely to attract female job applicants as well as ensuring a better and less biased company environment overall.

The team at Ozland Group Solutions understands the benefits of offering mentoships, career development, leadership and training programs to support women and all staff into leadership and technical positions and as such is continuously evolving our processes to better facilitate these programs throughout the network.

Flexibility

Of course, no gender equality strategy is complete without flexible working arrangements made available to all employees. These can include allowing adjustments to working days per week, roster scheduling, options to work from home, along with parental and carers' leave. The team at Ozland Group Solutions understands the importance of work/life balance and offer a range of flexible working options suited to the role and the individual. Balance is key and we work with our team to strike an ideal balance.

Company Policies

Developing a formal policy or strategy for dealing with sexual harassment is also essential. Much like many organisations, we have a zero tolerance policy. Our values are underpinned by integrity and we strive to build a team whose value align. We encourage a safe workplace culture for women and men alike. Having policies in place ensures the safety of our team and fosters a culture of respect and trust.

Achieving gender equality is important for workplaces not only because it is ‘fair’ and ‘the right thing to do,’ but because it is also linked to a country’s overall economic performance. We understand that the world (and we) still have a way to go, however, our mission here at Ozland Group Solutions is to lead the charge in breaking down barriers and better supporting the incredible women in industry.

If you’re looking to get into the industry and work with a progressive organisation that values individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
